Trial Version, Licensing, and Purchasing Questions and Answers

Q: Is there a money back guarantee if I am not satisfied?
A: Yes, we offer a 30 day money back guarantee but it is typically not needed because we offer a 30 day trial before purchasing.  But if you want to return the software with in 30 days after purchase, you can.  Before we can return your money, you will need to enter a serial code that will remove the EZ-OFFICE license from your computer.  You will not be able to continue using EZ-OFFFICE 2002 or the data you have entered once this process takes place.

Q: What is the EZ-OFFICE 2002 Trial Version?
A: The EZ-OFFICE 2002 trial version is the full featured product that will run for 30 days or 30 times which ever comes first.  Every time you start the program a License Notification screen will pop up to remind you that the software is not licensed.  As soon as your trial period ends, you will be locked out of the software until an unlock code is entered.  You can purchase the software at any time, but if you do not want the software to lock you out then purchase the unlock code before the time limit runs out.

Q: Will I loose my data when the EZ-OFFICE trial version expires?
A: You will not lose your data when the Trial version expires.  As soon as we recieve payment from you, we will provide you with an unlock code.  This unlock code will permanently unlock your software and give you full access to the data you entered before the expiration.

Q: Do I need to buy additional licenses if I want to run EZ-Office on other computers?
A: Yes, each license you buy is for one computer.  If you want to run EZ-OFFICE on several computers then you will need to buy a license for each computer.  The unlock code you receive from us when purchasing the software is good for the machine the software was installed on.  If you install the EZ-OFFICE on another computer it will simply become a 30 day trial.  You will not be able to use the same unlock code to unlock it.  You will need to purchase an additional unlock code(i.e.license). Q: I just bought a new computer and want to transfer my existing license from my old computer to the new one. Can this be done without purchasing a new license?
A: Yes, you can transfer a license from one computer to another assuming you are using the new EZ-OFFCE 2002.  But once the transfer is complete, the original software on the old computer will no longer be licensed and thus EZ-OFFICE will not function.  If you want to have both computers running the software, then you will need to purchase another license.  Currently we can do a license transfer over the phone for you, but in future maintenance releases EZ-OFFICE 2002 will be upgrade to transfer licenses without having to contact Union Software.  Depending on your situation, we reserve the right to charge a transfer fee.

General EZ-OFFICE 2002 Questions and Answers

Q: I have an old version of EZ-Office and want to upgrade.  What is the easiest way to get started?
A: The easiest way to get started is to download our trial version of EZ-OFFICE 2002 and install it on top of your existing version (i.e. in the same folder that it was originally installed in). Then print up the order form, fill it out, write down your user keys from the registration screen, and send in your payment.  Once we receive payment we will generate an unlock code and send it to you via phone, fax, or e-mail.

Q: What is the EZ-OFFICE Web Update Wizard?
A: The EZ-OFFICE Web Update Wizard is a new utility we have include with the latest version of EZ-OFFICE 2002. This utility gives EZ-OFFICE 2002 the ability to automatically update itself over the Internet. With the click of a button you can automatically download and install free maintenance releases and bug fixes from our web site.  No more hassling with try to keep your software up-to-date or downloading files and trying to figure out where they go when when we have an update.  Simply, open EZ-OFFICE 2002 and under the File Menu click on Web Update EZ-OFFICE.  This function will check the web for updates. If a newer version is available you will be prompted to download and install the update.  After the update is complete the software will be updated to the latest version.

Q: Does EZ-OFFFICE print the new Joint Step A grievance form?
A: Yes, EZ-OFFICE 2002 comes with the ability to print an authentic looking Joint Step A grievance Form (Form 8190) that will be accepted case.

Q: Can EZ-OFFICE 2002 print mailing labels?
A: Yes, EZ-OFFICE 2002 can print Envelopes and some Avery Labels.  If you need more extensive label capabilities you can export membership data to a text file then use Microsoft Word or any other program that can import text data and Mail Merge to Envelopes, Labels, Letters etc.  We are planning on adding additional Mailing Label capabilities in future versions of EZ-OFFICE.

Q: Can I import membership data from NALC headquarters?
A: EZ-OFFICE 2002 supports the importing of membership data from NALC-LINK data file format.  If you have a lot of members and do not want to type their information in by hand then you can purchase a disk directly from NALC headquarters called NALC-LINK that gives you all the membership information for your branch call NALC Headquarters for pricing and ask about their NALC-LINK data files. 

Q: Can I import membership data from another application other than EZ_OFFICE that already has my data ?
A: Not Directly,  However, for a technical support charge, we can import the data for you.  We will discuss your data requirements and what data you need from your old program then depending on the requirements we will import or create a custom import utility to import your data into the EZ-OFFICE 2002 databases.

Q: Can I export Data from EZ-OFFICE 2002?
A: Yes, membership data can be exported to a text file format which can be used by other programs to create mailing labels, reports, envelopes, etc.  Although the system does not have the ability to export all possible data in its system, it is possible to get to all the data in EZ-OFFICE 2002 because it uses standard Microsoft Access databases.  If you know how to work with Microsoft Access then you can get to any data you want.  Although you may need some technical support to understand all the tables and data fields in the database since this is undocumented.

Q: Can I customize EZ-OFFICE 2002 or do we have to pay Union Software to do customization?
A: EZ-OFFICE 2002 is not customizable from the end user standpoint.  However, depending on your needs we can customize the software for you.  You should contact us to discuss your customization needs and the cost of such a customization.  Future versions of EZ-OFFICE will be end user customizable.

Q: Can I run EZ-OFFICE 2002 between several computers on a network?
A: Yes, EZ-OFFICE 2002 is capable of running on a network.  You just need to make sure you have a computer that will be considered the central server where the shared databases will reside.  Then you need to make sure you have permissions to map a drive letter from the client machine to the drive letter on the server where the EZ-OFFICE data base resides.  Check out the help manual for more detailed networking informations.

A: EZ-OFFICE 2002 is written in Visual Basic 4.0.
